About Me
My name is Matt Kantz. I’m a proud husband, a father of two amazing daughters, a 20-year resident of Muncie and Delaware County, and your current Delaware County Councilman in District 3. Now, I want to tell you why I’m running — and why I believe I’m uniquely prepared for this role.
Let’s start with experience — not just in politics or public service, but real-world experience that comes from rolling up your sleeves, leading teams, solving problems, and getting things done. Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked in hospitals, in boardrooms, with startups and global corporations. I’ve been on both sides of the table — as a business owner and as an executive in healthcare technology, helping hospitals across the country operate more efficiently and deliver better care.
In my career, I’ve managed multi-million-dollar budgets. I’ve led national sales teams. I’ve turned around underperforming operations and closed major deals that created jobs and drove growth. I understand how to build strategy, how to measure results, and most importantly — how to lead with accountability.
And that experience didn’t come from staying in one place.
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve lived in Michigan. I went to college in Bowling Green. I built my early career in Kansas City. And for the last two decades, I’ve traveled the United States — every corner of it — working with healthcare systems, government agencies, and business leaders to improve operations, drive innovation, and make smart financial decisions.
But no matter where I’ve lived or worked, Muncie has been home. Delaware County is where my wife Jaime and I chose to raise our daughters, Emma and Abby. It’s where we’ve invested our time, our energy, and our hearts into making this community stronger. And it’s where I’ve chosen to serve, first as a citizen, and now as a member of the County Council.
As President Pro Tempore of the Council the past two years, I’ve been focused on three things: accountability, transparency, and cutting waste. We’ve made smart choices with your tax dollars. We’ve challenged outdated systems. We’ve held departments to a higher standard — because you deserve that from your local government.
But there’s still work to do. And that’s why I’m running for County Commissioner.
The Board of Commissioners makes decisions that directly impact your daily life — how we invest in roads and infrastructure, how we grow local jobs, how we manage county property and contracts, and how we plan for the future. These decisions require more than politics — they require leadership, vision, and the kind of operational experience I’ve spent my entire career developing.
Let me be clear: I’m not running to make a name for myself. I’m running to make things work better — for families, for small businesses, for the farmers, first responders, and frontline workers who keep this county running.
I’m running to bring private-sector discipline into the public sector — to make sure every dollar is accounted for, every contract is scrutinized, and every decision is made with long-term impact in mind.
I’m running because I believe we need leaders who know how to lead people, not just manage processes. Leaders who can build coalitions, bring different voices to the table, and find common ground to move us forward.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I can promise you this: I will show up, I will listen, and I will work harder than anyone to get results for the people of Delaware County.
My campaign is about building a better future — rooted in common sense, driven by data, and guided by the belief that local government should be efficient, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.
So tonight, I’m asking for your support. I’m asking for your prayers, your ideas, your time — and eventually, your vote. Together, we can write the next chapter for Delaware County — one built on opportunity, responsibility, and real leadership.
Thank you, and let’s get to work.
